Testing of sauna scents

We tested the sauna scents "Herbal sauna" and "Metsa sauna" from the Finnish brand Hetkinen
Autumn is in full swing, and what could be better than a refreshing morning sauna to gather energy while also testing a couple of our sauna scents?
First up was the sauna oil "Herbal sauna," which has a spicy herbal fragrance. Hetkinen specifically recommends this scent for morning saunas – with notes of rosemary, thyme, oregano, and sage, this fragrance is said to bring extra fresh energy to your day and act as a revitalizer. The scent was less prominent than we expected, so we added a few extra drops to the water bucket to get a proper effect. We found we had to wait a little while for the scent to evaporate and spread in the sauna. Once the scent permeated, we could truly detect the spicy aroma, which left a sort of peppery aftertaste – a truly refreshing start to the day.
Next, we moved on to the "Metsa sauna" scent. Metsa means forest in Finnish, and this scent is meant to evoke nature's healing power and bring new green energy and radiance to everyday life – not bad! Hetkinen also suggests decorating the sauna with forest elements for a complete forest sauna experience. We only had 30 minutes left of our sauna session, so we decided to skip the decorating.
But wow! This scent seemed more prominent, and we detected notes of pine, spruce, juniper, bark, and birch – which provided an immediate sense of calm, making us want to lie there and enjoy our little forest sauna for the rest of the day.
Next time, it's Metsa sauna all the way!
